Troop 270 is the collective reference for Troop 3270 (boys) and Troop 5270 (girls). The troops are linked, meaning they operate as separate youth-led units with their own leadership and identity while coordinating many activities and sharing resources.

Troop 270 has a long-standing history in the Monticello community and provides youth with opportunities to develop confidence, leadership, and outdoor skills through hands-on experiences. Scouts participate in camping, high adventure activities, service projects, and advancement opportunities throughout the year.

The program is designed to be youth-led at every level. Scouts take on responsibility not only within their patrols, but also in troop-wide leadership roles where they help plan meetings, organize outings, and guide the direction of the troop as a whole. Adult volunteers provide guidance and support, while leadership is primarily developed and practiced by the Scouts themselves.

Troop 270 is built around the idea that young people learn best by doing – leading, planning, solving problems, and working together in real situations.
